Wash DC, Smithsonian Castle Box

There is no date on when this was placed.  Does anyone know if it is still around?

The Smithsonian box seems to be pretty well monitored. I'm sure it's still there. I visited it on December 30. I believe it was placed sometime in the fall.

It was in place on Jan 25th, when I stamped in. The 2nd scroll has
got plenty of room for more visits.

I should be around until the first of April or so.  If you check the archives, there is an e-mail which would probably tell you at least when the box was posted.

BTW... I'll be in Washington DC next Friday and Sat. AM if anyone wants to exchange!  My first box on Friday: The Smithsonian!

Sounds great...when/where would you like to meet to exchange stamps?

Jim, I was downtown in DC this past weekend and found the microbox
just fine. But as the clue says, be aware you are in site of the
guard and do not act too suspicious. :)
Happy hunting!

Can we make it 3 exchanges? I just got the Smithsonian Castle box,
but have mapped out where some others are that are close by. The snow
over the weekend prevented me from hunting. But I would love to meet
some other boxers, that are not my mom. :)

OK..... sounds great!  Maybe you guys can help me.  I'm trying to map out my letterboxing plan, since the ONLY reason why I'm going to DC is to stamp into boxes (and exchanges!)!  I'm not sure where to meet you since I've only been to DC once, and that was back when I was in grammar school!

Any ideas on how what order I should do them in, and where I should go?  BTW.... I'm all for having someone to box with!

I'm staying Thursday and Friday night in Cheverly MD, and taking the subway into DC on Friday, maybe Sat. morning for a tiny while too!

I will have a car, but am probably going to leave it at the hotel, since I don't want to look like a tourist in DC!  I'd be the one traveling 15 mph getting stuck on Dupont Circle!

OK, no problem...which direction will you be coming from?

Will you be staying in DC for the day/night? There are quite a few in DC.....

I am sure we can work the details out...

Might I suggest we meet at the castle at a given time. I am only
going to be in DC on Saturday AM, myself. The lovely gardens behind
the castle is a great place to stamp in.
I have located on a local map of DC where many of the clues start.
Many are right between the Capital and the Lincoln. With a side trip
over towards the Jefferson.
If you will be traveling by Metro (subway) Smithsonian stop is right
there.
keep me posted on what you think. :)

I'm probably going to do Rock Creek Park on THursday afternoon, along with some Maryland boxes probably.  On Friday, I'm probably going to do The Smithsonian, Potomac Park, Jefferson Memorial and perhaps Chinatown.  I can leave some of the others to do on Sat. AM, so let me know what ones you want to scope out on Sat. morning and I'll leave those for then.  I do have to leave DC at around 12:00, so I can get my car back at the hotel, and drive home to CT.  Let's hope it doesn't snow!!!!!!

Hello!  I'm going to be in DC during the Friday the 21st.   So anytime, and anywhere around the Mall would be great!  I'm going to look for all of the LB's around the Mall that day, and hopefully get some others.  Any idea on how to make the Rock Creek Park ones (the three with the first missing) easier?  I won't have a car in the city that day.
